Research
The objectives of the joint research activities are to improve infrastructure performance for the EU research community by developing new methods and tools : new or improved measurements of variables, optimized sampling procedures, improved manipulation of environmental parameters, as well as more relevant experimental schemes.
This will be done by :
• developing new sensor and novel technologies for more efficient data acquisition and analysis of ecosystem processes depending on the different scales of ecosystem structures and land use changes,
• providing innovative environmental control techniques or experimental schemes for manipulating individual environmental parameters and their feedbacks with respect to future scenraios of climate and biodiversity changes,
• developing generic biogeochemical models and statistical models for describing and forecasting ecosystems responses to environmental and land use changes in the form of an ExpeER model toolbox for use by the infrastructures and its users,
• developing and testing upscaling tools to assess the potential of the ExpeER infrastructure to upscale ecosystem responses to environmental changes at large scales.
Joint research activities are organised in 4 work packages (WP 7 to 10).
